Moyes had expressed his surprise and disappointment with Gueye's behavior after the game, stating that he couldn't understand why the 36-year-old was sent off.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Moyes revealed that the club had appealed the decision but was unsuccessful.
"We have appealed the decision, and our appeal was turned down," Moyes said. "We weren't given a reason for the rejection, but we did appeal it immediately."
The manager emphasized that the incident was quickly resolved within the team, and players moved on from the situation.
Moyes also reiterated the importance of passion and commitment from all players, although he acknowledged that the style of passion shown by Gueye was not ideal.
Despite the apology made by Gueye to his teammates, including a direct word to Jonjo Keane, the midfielder will still face the consequences of his actions, and Everton will go into their upcoming match against Newcastle United with a player less than usual.
