Burnley had opportunities to equalize, including a chance for Lesley Ugochukwu, who fired a shot against the legs of Bernd Leno. Ugochukwu was later sent clear on goal and scored a well-placed effort in the bottom corner.
However, the hosts' relief was short-lived as Fulham scored again. A corner kick was initially cleared, but the ball found its way back to Wilson, who set up Calvin Bassey for an easy goal from six yards out.
With only 45 minutes remaining in the match, Burnley's manager, Scott Parker, made significant changes to his team in an attempt to turn the game around. One of these changes was a loose pass from Emile Smith-Rowe that almost led to a goal for Burnley, but Jacob Bruun Larsen's shot was smothered by Leno.
Unfortunately for Burnley, they were unable to capitalize on this opportunity and found themselves two goals behind once again. Wilson scored his third goal of the evening with a bending effort into the far corner.
Despite making some attacking changes, Burnley's struggles continued, and they were unable to mount a significant challenge to Fulham's lead.
