Before making the move, Hamill made his senior debut for St Johnstone on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season against Dundee.
Hamill recalled the initial interest from Arsenal in February 2024, when his mother received a phone call that lasted longer than usual. He was eventually invited to join the club on trial at Hale End, where he played his first game against St Albans and won 4-1.
He was later invited to travel to Germany with the under-18s team. On the final day of the season, Hamill was called in for a chat by Per Mertesacker and Jack Wilshere, who offered him a scholarship.
Hamill expressed his gratitude and pride at being offered the opportunity to join Arsenal. He settled in well with the team and is proud to be one of the under-18s captains.
Hamill has also had the chance to train with the first-team, which he found to be a fantastic experience. He noted that the level of detail the first-team works at is exactly what he would expect from players at the highest level.
Hamill's focus is on learning, improving, and aiming to reach the standard of the first-team players.
